Style of the City attended the revealing of the iconic Bob Dylan artwork at Castle Fine Art, Cardiff. The Drawn Blank Series – The Silkscreen Collection is open to the public from the 30th of August, but be sure to take a glimpse of the detailed artwork before it disappears!
As one of the most influential artists of all time, Bob Dylan has sold more than 125 million records. He is now just as revered for his fine art, as his name has gained global attention to him holding a paintbrush instead of a guitar. Symbolising Dylan’s travels across America, the iconic ‘Train Tracks’ has been released for the first time ever as a limited edition silkscreen print with a museum glass finish. It is definitely worth feasting your eyes upon.
The artist’s journeys between cities and towns are personified by his expressionist lines, which capture the instant moment of a person, place and time. Repeated motifs encourage the viewer to explore the depths of colour and the evolution of his work.
His art shares a similarity to that of Pablo Picasso, with critics applauding the relatability of his collections, The Beaten Path, The Drawn Blank Series and The Brazil Series. Bob Dylan paints mostly from life, stating: “I’m pretty much interested in people, histories, myth, and portraits; people of all stripes.”
