On Wednesday, 4th December 2019, the newly refurbished Mercure Cardiff North Hotel was unveiled to the public through a dedicated launch event.

The occasion was a huge success, with the First Minister of Wales, Mark Drakeford, officially opening the hotel alongside Michael Brag, CEO & Chairman of the Proark Group, with a ribbon-cutting ceremony.

The local VIP guest showed his support along with other members of the community, as well as press and media influencers.

From 3.30pm until 6pm on Wednesday, guests were invited to enjoy informal tours with festive afternoon tea, followed by champagne cocktails, canapes and live entertainment until 9pm.

Having previously operated under the Park Inn brand, the hotel is one of six across the UK to have been signed by Danish-based property group, Proark, and rebranded to Mercure.

The new Mercure Cardiff North Hotel will be managed by Accor and incorporates locally inspired artwork and design within its décor, whilst still maintaining the consistent quality of an international brand.

Located on Circle Way East, Llanedeyrn, the new Mercure Cardiff North Hotel draws inspiration from local landmarks such as the Millennium Centre façade in Cardiff Bay, with details such as copper aesthetic lining and curated display items that encompass elements of the area’s cultural and historic past.

The First Minister of Wales, Mark Drakeford, said: “I was pleased to be able to attend the launch of the new Mercure Cardiff North Hotel.

“It was good to see this refurbishment completed and shows the demand for hotel and conference facilities in our capital city – a welcome sign that visitor numbers are increasing.”

The Mercure Cardiff North Hotel consists of 92 Standard Double Rooms including 13 Executive Rooms, together with impressive conference facilities in the form of ten meeting rooms and onsite car parking with 150 spaces.

Mr. and Mrs. Patel, a local couple who attended the launch event said: “The newly refurbished Mercure Cardiff North Hotel is extremely warm and welcoming, and its new décor is beautiful, classy and high-end. The staff are polite, helpful and provide a five-star service. After coming to this hotel for over 20 years, we feel like this is our second home.
