Next week the rock musical Hair is at New Theatre in Cardiff for six days as a part of their UK tour.

The rock musical is embarking on a colourful journey of love and peace, touring around the UK following a sell-out run in London.

The tour follows a win of a WhatsOnStage award last year and has received a five-star review from Metro who called it “theatrical gold”.

Hair features a range of talented performers, featuring stars such as X Factor’s Jake Quickenden as Berger, Hollyoaks’ Daisy Wood-Davis as Shelia and X Factor’s Marcus Collins.

Audiences should expect to be transported to the decade of the sexual revolution and are encouraged to dress for the occasion.

Hair is a rock musical following the story of the “tribe”, long-haired hippies living a bohemian life in New York City in 1967.

The ‘Age of Aquarius’ youngsters have a yearning to change the world, challenging current affairs such as conscription and the Vietnam War.

This tribe of free-loving hippies explore the freedom of the musical and sexual revolution whilst fighting against society’s expectations.

When Claude, the protagonist (played by Paul Wilkins) gets his call to draft, he must decide whether to join his friends in resisting the call or bow to the pressures from his conservative parents and society.

The musical features iconic hits such as  ‘Aquarius’, ‘Let the Sun Shine In’, ‘I Got Life’ and ‘Good Morning Starshine’ is written by Gerome Ragni (book and lyrics), James Rado (book and lyrics) and Galt MacDermot (music).

The show will be running from Monday 15 – Saturday 20th April during the evenings at 7:30, with matinee performances on Thursday and Saturday. Fancy dress is optional.

Tickets are available here.
