Sophie and Hannah Pycroft are the sisters behind the incredibly successful Spectrum Collections, the fabulous makeup brush brand taking the world by storm.

Launching their brand from their garage in Wales, Spectrum Collections has grown at an incredible rate, their brushes are loved by countless celebrities, and have been called the “World’s most Instagrammable.”

In their exclusive column for Style of the City the sisters will be sharing their beauty and makeup advice as well as highlighting some of their must-have Spectrum Collections brushes.

Hi babes and beauty lovers! We’re the Spectrum sisters and we’re absolutely thrilled to let you know that each issue we’ll be bringing you lots of beauty updates, products we’re loving, the best tools to achieve your desired look and a few style tips along the way.

We’re busy working women who work hard for their money and we want to let Style of the City readers know what products are worth investing in.

These last few weeks have been particularly busy for us travelling, we’ve been living out of a suitcase for weeks on end (it’s definitely not all Instagram glam) and that means we’ve had to be selective and edit down our skin care and beauty routine to just the essentials.

We thought perhaps the best place to start for our column would be a breakdown of our ‘fresh face’ go-to’s…anything that helps disguise the dark circles and helps give us a glow is a definite winner.

So as you will be aware, or if you’re not please take note…skin is your canvas so you have to take care of it.

We often get complimented on our skin and the secret is Obagi skin care.

It’s not available on the shelf as it’s medical grade but you can purchase it through Cardiff based aesthetician Beauty in the Bottle which is where we get our top up from.

It’s surprising how long these products last, we’re talking months, especially the Vitamin C wash which really deep cleanses the skin and is top of our skin care essentials list, followed by Hydrate day cream. Worth the investment.

Once we’ve washed and moisturised – told you it was a short skin care routine – we usually have around 10 mins to get ready which doesn’t leave much time for an intense beauty regime.

If we have to be out the door super quick we’ll go pretty fresh faced, so these are our top base products.

Working at a desk or staring at a screen all day can be really draining, so we love Charlotte Tilbury ‘Wonder Glow’ which gives a dewey look to the skin and reflects light so you look luminous, followed by Charlotte Tilbury ‘Light Wonder’ foundation.

Both these products should be applied with a brush, and for a natural finish your best bet is something like the A03 foundation brush which you can create light brush strokes with or build for a heavier coverage.

Concealer is key to disguise tiredness. For that we use Becca Aqua Luminous Perfecting Concealer – a bit of a mouthful but it simply covers our dark circles without drying out the eye.

A  creamy concealer is best and to apply we use B05 to buff it into the skin.

A little tip is we actually take our concealer all the way around the eye, not just underneath where the dark circles are as we find it helps to create an even skin tone around the whole eye socket to look really awake.

If we’re being super quick, Glossier Lash Slick and Boy Brow are two mascaras, one for your lashesone for your brows, a quick coat of each and we’re done.

Finish with a pop of blush, we love Hourglass Ambient Lighting blush as it’s blended with a highlighting powder – again all about that glow – so does the job of two products which is perfect if you’re on the move.

Lastly a sprint of setting spray, Gerard Cosmetics ‘Slay All Day’ smells like mango and will send you out the door feeling fresh, fabulous and ready to slay your day.

As an exclusive for Style of the City readers, Spectrum Collections are running 25% off with the code SOTC25, valid until Thursday 25th April.
