A cultural classic since 1978, Grease The Musical has been captivating audiences across the screen and stage for decades. This thrilling new version includes all the phenomenal hits from the original production, such as Summer Nights, Greased Lightnin’, Hopelessly Devoted to You and You’re the One That I Want. However, the narrative structure and songs subvert expectations, but it’s a welcomed re-appropriation of the original film. The obligatory blonde Sandy is now a brunette, played by Martha Kirby, who portrays Sandy as a more realistic character than the original subdued portrayal by Olivia Newton-John in the film. Also, the T-Birds from the film are gone and been replaced with the original line-up of the Burger Palace Boys, and the portrayal of Danny, by Dan Partridge, is a complete contrast to Travolta’s Italian persona and features.

The stage was brought to life by a fresh young cast who brought energy, vitality, and passion to this ultimate musical classic. Each member of the cast managed to portray their own story to the audience, alongside the wider storyline of the musical. The cast also created a sing-a-long with the audience at the end of the production, which included everyone in the theatre singing Summer Nights before heading home.

So round-up your Burger Palace Boys, pick up your Pink Ladies and re-discover why Grease really is the one that you want to see this week!

Grease The Musical is at Wales Millennium Centre until Saturday the 19th of October 2019.
