As 2019 approaches, there’s lots of exciting events being lined up that we can look forward to in our Welsh capital! Here’s our scoop of the best upcoming events.
St Dwynwen’s Day, 25th January
Honouring our Welsh patron saint of lovers, St Dwynwen, January sees our very own version of St Valentine’s Day. There’s sure to be plenty of events and offers on in restaurants and hotels, so keep your eyes peeled!
The National Holistic Therapy Show 2019, January 31st at Temple of Peace
With live guest speakers giving talking about their experiences with Holistic therapy and how it has changed their lives, this is sure to be a busy day. There will be stands held by businesses, as well as intimate sessions of meditation and lots more.
Six Nations Rugby Internationals, February and March
One of the most anticipated events of the year, the Six Nations at the Principality Stadium! The Wales vs England game is one not to miss on 23rd February, and Wales vs Ireland on 16th March.

Leonardo da Vinci at the National Museum, 1st Feb to 6th May
To mark the 500th anniversary of Leonardo da Vinci’s death, the National Museum will be displaying twelve of his greatest drawings as part of #Leonardo500 – a national celebration of the extraordinary artist. The drawings are from the Royal Collection which contains the world’s finest collection of Leonardo’s works.

Cardiff Viva Vegan Festival, February 16th
Held in Cardiff’s City Hall celebrating vegan food and drinks with hundreds of stalls, this returning festival promises to be vibrant. Whether you’re vegan, looking for inspiration and delicious produce or looking to spice up your life as a New Year’s Resolution, this is an event worth visiting.

St David’s Day – Dydd Gŵyl Dewi Sant – 1st March
Always a big day of patriotic celebration, keep your eye out for St David’s Day events in the local area as businesses release their plans closer to the time.

Film and Comic Con, 9-10th March
Held at the Motorpoint Arena, Comic Con is set to bring some more of your favourite stars from TV, Film and Comics as well as a whole host of memorabilia and fun activities including photo shoots with the stars, panels, autograph sessions.

Cowbridge Food and Drink Festival, 27-28th May
This annual celebration of local Welsh produce and more, with marquees, cookery demos and talks from culinary talents, is returning to Cowbridge in May. A must-visit for all foodies of all ages.

Ian McKellan tour comes to the New Theatre, 27-28th June
Celebrating acting, performance and personal stories on his national tour, Sir Ian McKellan is coming to several Welsh venues. The set is expected to include anecdotes, acting and audience participation. Unfortunately, the Cardiff and Swansea tickets are already sold out, but many other locations are still available, including Bristol just over the bridge.
