London Fashion Week: Slovak Fashion Council Showcase

This London Fashion Week the Slovak Fashion Council proudly collaborated with Fashion Scout to create an international showcase introducing five Slovak designers and their fashion collections. The live showcase took place across catwalk and showroom space dedicated to the best of Slovak fashion.

The Slovak Fashion Council is a professional non-profit organisation that supports and develops Slovak fashion. Dana Kleinert, the founder, was recognised as a British Council Young Creative Entrepreneur in 2012. Since 2013, the Slovak Fashion Council has presented the best of Slovak fashion and has introduced over 20 new designers to both industry professionals and the public through International Fashion Showcase.

This season’s showcase featured five Slovak designers and their latest collections.

The Designers:

Lukáš Krnáč
Lukáš’ work has earned him multiple awards, including Best Fashion Graduate by Slovak Fashion Council in 2017, Grand Prize by BEST IN DESIGN in 2017 and was shortlisted for Czech Grand Design Awards. His unisex collections have previously been shown at Prague Fashion Week and the label is stocked in many concept stores across Europe.
As is typical for his collections, Lukáš used humour and irony within his designs. He worked with bold colours and clashes of textures & fabrics. All the prints featured in his collections and accessories are designed exclusively in-house by Lukáš himself.

Pavol Dendis
Pavil Dendis is a young and emerging designer who graduated from the Academy of Fine Arts in Bratislava, then worked with various designers based in Slovakia, Berlin & Istanbul and now works under his own label Dendis. He predominantly focuses on menswear with an avant-garde touch, minimalistic design and strong emphasis on craft and detail.
Pavol presents his work every year at Fashion LIVE!, Slovak Fashion Week Initiative, as well as many shows abroad. The fashion he creates is strongly linked with storytelling, mystery in nature and melancholy. His collections typically have rich styling and a strong reference to tradition but remain wearable at the same time.

Petra Kubiková
Based in Bratislava, this emerging fashion designer has an expansive set of experience from fashion competitions, exhibitions and shows held not only in Slovakia but also in the Czech Republic, Hungary, New Zealand, Belgium and England. After completing her bachelor’s degree Petra was awarded the Best Fashion Graduate Prove by the Slovak Fashion Council. She has also been awarded the Fashion Live Fresh Designer Award in 2015 and the NOIZZ Fashion Award for the most popular designer in Slovakia in 2018.
Her designs are inspired by Japanese culture, especially Tokyo, as well as music and art history. Working with natural materials such as wool, cotton and leather, her work focuses on the stylisation of shapes, simplicity, combinability and neatness.

Silvia Zrebná
Silvia successfully graduated from the Fashion studio at the Academy of Fine Arts and Design in Bratislava.
She draws inspiration from everyday life, working and creating spontaneously, being guided by her intuition. In her collection she presents her own ready to wear pieces designed in a variety of fabrics with precise attention to detail and in her typical dark colour palette. Contrasting her own line are her sustainable collections which feature upcycled pieces in bold colours. Her range is designed to be unisex due to her belief that everyone has the freedom to choose their own identity and fashion goes with that.

Vivien Babicová
Based in Zlin, Czech Republic, Vivien was shortlisted for Best Fashion Graduate by the Slovak Fashion Council in 2017, and set up her own line of ready to wear women’s wear and accessories while still studying for her Master’s degree at Fashion Design Studio. Her Seatbelt bag is her most iconic piece and has gained her fans within the public as well as with industry professionals.
