In celebration of its grand opening, the latest addition to the Al Dente family in Angel, London, I was invited along with other press and food lovers, to discover the essence of Rome with their revered “Gricia” pasta, a symbol of the city’s culinary heritage. Nestled in the vibrant heart of Upper Street, this new restaurant has certainly attracted aficionados since the first week of April. Embarking on a gastronomic journey reminiscent of the ‘Eternal City’, food enthusiasts residing in North Central London, now have a rendezvous spot to commune, dine, and share their love for authentic Roman fare. Al Dente’s expansion to 4a Upper Street highlights its steadfast commitment to delivering genuine Italian flavours and a premium dining experience at an accessible price point, delighting the discerning palates of Italian cuisine connoisseurs across London.

Here are some of the specialities I was able to sample on the night of the launch:

From the velvety richness of Carbonara to the robust flavours of Amatriciana and the simple yet sublime allure of Cacio e Pepe, each pasta dish exudes the unmistakable essence of Rome, evoking cherished memories of dining in the Eternal City. True to the ethos upheld since its inception, Al Dente’s Angel outpost pledges an unwavering dedication to authenticity, serving up original ingredients, bold flavours, hearty portions, and wallet-friendly prices within a convivial, laid-back ambience that encapsulates the essence of Roman dining culture.

With this latest addition, Al Dente’s culinary empire burgeons to four bustling eateries across the capital, alongside a ghost kitchen dedicated to crafting fresh pasta delights daily. At the heart of the Angel locale lies a culinary sanctuary spanning 70 square meters, where customers can partake in an immersive epicurean odyssey, sampling an array of dishes inspired by Italy’s diverse regional cuisines while paying homage to the timeless classics of Roman pasta tradition.

Since its inception in 2018, Al Dente has captivated Londoners’ hearts with its devotion to crafting fresh, authentic pasta experiences. From the convenience of takeaway at the inaugural Goodge Street location to the strategic takeaway-focused setup at Monument and the upscale elegance of the flagship South Kensington establishment, each locale caters to diverse dining preferences while upholding Al Dente’s commitment to excellence. Complementing these bustling hubs is a ghost kitchen in Hackney, ensuring seamless delivery services for patrons craving a taste of Italy’s finest culinary creations, no matter their location within the city.
