But who is Edoardo Mapelli Mozzi?

Edoardo Mozzi, also known as “Edo”, is a 34-year-old Italian multi-millionaire, who made his fortune through property development. He is the son of former Olympic skier Count Alessandro Mapelli Mozzi and Nikki Shale, is a count himself, a father of a son from a previous relationship and it’s been reported that he has been a friend of the York’s for many years.

Mozzi has an interior design company, Banda Property, which specialises in finding and developing property for an elite clientele. Mozzi is also the co-founder of the charity Cricket Builds Hope, which teaches cricket in Rwanda.

The couple is reported to have been together since November 2018, and Mozzi made his first official public appearance with Beatrice in March at the National Portrait Gallery gala, where they were joined by the Duchess of Cambridge. It has been the first public romance with Princess Beatrice since she ended her 10-year relationship with Dave Clark, in 2016. Since then, Edoardo and Princess Beatrice have been spotted together several times, and he also attended Princess Eugenie’s wedding to Jack Brooksbank last year.

Mozzi parents, Nikki Williams-Ellis and Alessandro Mapelli Mozzi statement were mentioned in an Instagram post, saying: “We are truly delighted about Edoardo’s and Beatrice’s engagement. The family have known Beatrice for most of her life. Edo and Beatrice are made for each other, and their happiness and love for each other is there for all to see. They share an incredibly strong and united bond, their marriage will only strengthen what is already a wonderful relationship.”

Beatrice and Edoardo’s wedding will be the fourth royal one in recent years, following the Duke and Duchess of Sussex’s and then Eugenie’s in 2018, and Prince and Princess Michael of Kent’s daughter Lady Gabriella Windsor’s to Tom Kingston in 2019.
