Last week Style of the City attended an event at Future Inns Cardiff to celebrate their Taste of Wales Afternoon Tea.

In 2005 Future Inns Cardiff was the first Future Inns hotel to be opened in the UK. Since then the Canadian born hotel chain has also established branches in Plymouth and Bristol. As with all Future Inns Hotels, the Cardiff branch has a hotel, restaurant serving breakfast, lunch and an evening a la carte menu, and conference & event facilities.

The focus of this event was the celebrate their Taste of Wales Afternoon Tea. The afternoon tea offered by Future Inns Cardiff features all homemade food prepared on site by their team of incredible chefs using fresh, local ingredients. In fact, their Head Chef even made an appearance at the event after we enjoyed his creations so much we felt he deserved a round of applause.

For £12 per person, the Future Inns afternoon tea features a range of savoury and sweet delights, including delicate finger sandwiches, handmade scones & bara brith and a range of cakes. You are served unlimited tea and coffee for the duration of your Afternoon Tea experience and can add a glass of sparkling wine for £3.50pp.

We tried out a variety of the food on offer.
Based on contemporary and traditional Welsh cuisine there was something for everyone, starting with the savoury there was a range of sandwiches ranging from hummus & roasted vegetable to smoked salmon with creme fraiche & dill. If you have a sweet sweet tooth Future Inns have that covered as well, starting with perfectly moist scones and the cutest mini Bara Brith you ever did see. Then the range of cakes was impossible to resist; carrot cake, macaroons, chocolate tart, and multicolour meringue drops were just some of the choices.

As well as showcasing their Afternoon Tea, Future Inns also wanted to show off some great local businesses. Businesses on show at the event included TanYaWhiteBits, Anaphase store and LunaAmani. It was great to be able to chat with some incredible Welsh business women to hear their stories, advice and what their plans are for the future.

Coming away from the event it was clear how proud Future Inns Cardiff is of its Welsh location; promoting amazing Welsh cuisine as well as amazing Welsh business women all in one event.
The afternoon tea was delicious, unique and definitely one we’d go back for again and again.
This one is not to be missed so make sure you head down to Future Inns Cardiff and try the Taste of Wales Afternoon Tea out for yourself.
