Some public hand washing facilities might still be closed but Lush is offering high street shoppers their own piece of soap peel to wash their hands on arrival at their local Lush shop. At the point of lockdown each individual Lush shop did all they could to pass their stock, especially the soap which had run out in supermarkets at that time, to charities and groups in their local communities. As a result, along with reopening with fresh product that is only days old, shops will be introducing their new look soap collection including two brand new additions! According to a study on the effectiveness of soap and water vs alcohol-based hand sanitisers, people who lathered up with soap and water had fewer bacteria on their mits than those who used hand sanitiser. Mark Constantine OBE, Lush Co-founder & Managing Director recommends using soap and water too… “The reason Lush is recommending washing hands with soap and water is because soap has two functions, it dislodges and washes away dirt, bacteria, yeasts, fungi and viruses.” To understand more about the effectiveness of solid soap, Lush Cosmetic Scientist and Product Inventor, Daniel Campbell, discusses it further here.
